Consul General Mark Scheland gave a presentation on American schools to nearly 40 fourth grade students at Leipzig’s public library branch in Volksmarsdorf, one of Consulate’s America@YourLibrary partners. In conjunction with Consul General Scheland’s presentation, he answered several questions about his diplomatic life and American culture, and US intern Eric O’Leary held an interactive session with the students on American geography and landmarks, highlighting the Consulate’s Meet US program. The event underscored “International Education Week” and offered the school children, whose nearly 20 nationalities represent a diverse section of Leipzig, the first chance to meet with a diplomat. Dr. Arne Ackermann, Leipzig City Library Director, also attended the event and made opening remarks.
