Consul for Public Affairs Mark Wenig addressed 22 high school teachers from all over the state of Saxony-Anhalt, on the subject of the upcoming U.S. presidential primaries and the November election. A subsequent Q&A session focused on American culture and way of life. The event was held at the Magdeburg Public Library, an American@YourLibrary partner institution. Wenig and Leipzig intern Eric O’Leary also helped break down some of the stereotypes about Americans and the United States that the teachers described as being held by their students. Information Resource Center (IRC) Director Thea Bohse also delivered a short presentation on IRC activities and information available to the teachers, such as the English Teacher’s Newsletter. The event, the sixth in a row in what has now become an annual visit, was organized by library official Ines Gonschoreck.
