American Artist With Leipzig Roots
February 20, 2008. In the presence of the artist, the Stadtgeschichtliches Museum Leipzig opened a large retrospective exhibition featuring painter Peter Ruta. Ruta, who was born in Saxony to a Jewish family in 1918, depicts cityscapes and still lifes in his work, which spans more than a half a century. The exhibition presents some 70 paintings of New York cityscapes, Italian scenes, still lifes, and the JFK Dallas motorcade. Consul for Public Affairs Mark Wenig spoke at the exhibition opening.
