Consul Addresses Leipzig University Students on U.S. Election Campaign
January 16, 2008. Consul for Public Affairs Mark Wenig addressed some 65 University of Leipzig students on the status of the U.S. presidential primary election campaign. Wenig was joined by Fulbright Prof. Dr. Ben Alpers, an historian based at the University of Oklahoma, and Dr. Crister Garrett, who chairs the Institute for American Studies at the University of Leipzig. The discussion not only focused on the present campaign and the various ways it could go, but also on the history of the process itself, and how it developed. The ensuing Q&A and discussion session demonstrated the intense interest in the current campaign by Leipzig students. From left: Dr. Crister Garrett, chair
