February 25, 2008. Consul for Public Affairs Mark Wenig visited the monthly meeting of the Arizona Club in Dresden, on the occasion of an annual presentation by Jürgen Wüsteney on the Alaska gold rush period in a speech entitled, "From Seattle to the Klondike". Consul Wenig, who made remarks beforehand, stressed the importance of cultural clubs like these which honor the American West, and foster the German-American partnership.  Wüsteney, a retiree who hails from Munich, has traveled widely in the Pacific Northwest and knows the region like an academic. About 40 members and spouses were in attendance at the meeting.
