Ties To Tennessee State University

. Leipzig Consul General Mark Scheland met with nine students from Tennessee State University in Nashville, who are conducting a 10-day summer study program in Germany with a focus on the U.S. Civil Rights Movement and its historical reverberations in Europe and the former GDR. After several days in Magdeburg, Nashville’s sister city, the students and Professor Joel H. Dark continued their seminar in Leipzig with local students before visiting the Martin Luther King Center in Werdau, Saxony. During his meeting with the students, the Consul General explained Consulate General Leipzig’s role in the region and careers in the Foreign Service.
