April 27, 2004. Consul General Fletcher M. Burton, U.S. Consulate General Leipzig, joined the lord mayor of Gotha, Volker Doenitz, in welcoming a delegation from Gotha's sister city Gastonia, NC. Both mayors looked back upon a successful partnership, which was established in 1993.
In the past 10 years, more than a hundred high school students from both sides crossed the Atlantic.
