May 12, 2007
Consul Michael Rousek joined the fifth “Markt der Kulturen” in Pirna. The Consulate General Leipzig staffed an information booth at the market, which celebrated and showcased the many different peoples and cultures. In his address on stage, Rousek stressed the importance of such an event to promote tolerance and intercultural dialogue. With Pirna Lord Mayor Ulbig, Saxony’s Interior Minister Dr. Buttolo, Consul Wacław Lech from Poland and other representatives of Pirna’s sister cities, Rousek stopped at the U.S. Consulate General's booth to introduce the group briefly to the Consulate and services of the Information Resource Center (IRC), and to point to a collection of books, which the IRC had selected as gifts for the Pirna Public Library. The library’s director, Mrs. Gabriele Langmann, personally came to receive the books, among them many children’s books and those with an emphasis on travel.
