May 16, 2008. Consulate General Leipzig helped launch the Leipzig portion of a German-American photo exhibit in Alte Baumwollspinnerei (a former textile mill complex, now famous for ties to the “New Leipzig School” painters). The exhibition Three Hours between Planes – also on display in Chicago – features works by graduates from Chicago and Leipzig art schools, reflecting the cross-disciplinary approach of both institutions. About 500 mainly young people interested in photography attended the Leipzig opening. This joint venture is the culmination of a long-term cooperation between the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) and the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig (HGB).
