December 1, 2008. Leipzig Consul for Public Affairs James Seward made two presentations on U.S. politics and the election for high school students in the ancient mining town of Annaberg-Buchholz, in the heart of the snow-covered Ore Mountains region. Consul Seward also met the city's mayor and other citizens at the annual "America Day," which took place at the city library. Interest in the recent election and the new administration remains high; the announcement that Hillary Clinton will be the new Secretary of State and that Robert Gates will remain Secretary of Defense drew questions about Barack Obama's choice of former political opponents and members of the opposing party.
