November 6, 2008. About 500 students and staff of Martin Luther University (MLU) as well as interested Halle citizens discussed with Prof. William Chandler his analysis of the Presidential election 2008. Chandler, Professor of Political Science at the University of California, San Diego, discussed the decisive elements of the election campaign, including the role of the economic crisis, key groups in the campaign, the use of new technologies, demographic changes, and the numerous urgent issues ahead for the transition process and the new administration. On the occasion, Consulate General Leipzig also presented the MLU’s Institute of Political Science with a selection of books on the U.S. political system as well as Information Resource Center (IRC) election resources.
