Celebrating Five Years Magdeburg-Nashville

May 28, 2008. On the 5th anniversary of the signing of the sister city agreements between Magdeburg and Nashville (TN), Leipzig Consul General Mark Scheland joined Magdeburg Lord Mayor Lutz Trümper and Dr. Uwe Küster, Member of Parliament and Director of the German-American Dialog Center at a press conference to announce a new element in this very successful sister city link. A young woman from Magdeburg, Lea Grupe, will break new ground by spending one year at a church organization in Nashville in the framework of a year of voluntary service. The meeting also introduced Jonas Tonn, the fifth Magdeburger to complete his civil service at a community center in Nashville.
