.
Opera singer Kevin Maynor, bass, and pianist Eric Olsen introduced an audience of about 300 high school students and members of general public to a multi-media performance of the 19th century “Underground Railroad” and the African-American struggle for equal rights and freedom. The event - staged in a local church - consisted of spirituals, narratives, video, and slide projections. The evening started off with a musical welcome by the high school gospel choir and opening remarks from the city’s mayor for cultural affairs, Gerhard Lambrecht. The program was hosted by the city’s cultural office, the music school, and the local and highly reputable Philanthropinum high school.
