Ms. Beate Hoerning, librarian at Magdeburg public library, and a student from Magdeburg International Primary School
|
July 6, 2007 Twenty second graders and their New York-born teacher, Kjersti Nichols from the International Primary School Magdeburg, attended an English language program on "Children in Nashville" at the Magdeburg public library. The presentation was part of the America@yourlibrary program, organized by Magdeburg library staff member Beate Hoerning, who just returned from a trip to Nashville, TN, a sister city of Magdeburg. The children, who had admirable English language skills, learned about Nashville, its library landscape and American children books. The director of the Information Resource Center (IRC), U.S. Consulate General Leipzig, introduced the group to the America@your library partnership, delivered words of greeting from Consul General Mark Scheland and presented U.S. reference books to the teacher. The program was rounded off with a reading from a book from America@yourlibrary children's book collection.
