May 8-9, 2005.
In April, WW II American Veteran Joe Lipsius visited Leipzig's Consular District and did several programs in the framework of the 60th anniversary of the end of the war. Joe Lipsius was also invited by the Russian government to be part of a group of American veterans celebrating the end of WW II in Moscow on May 9. At a reception at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, he met President Bush and Mrs. Bush, who were also in Moscow for the ceremonies marking the end of the war.
