March 13, 2008. As part of the Leipzig Book Fair’s reading festival, Consul General Mark Scheland read ten short stories from Paul Auster’s anthology "I Thought My Father Was God" before an audience of twenty 12th graders and their English teachers at the Leipzig Lutheran School Center. This was one of the 1,900 book-related events (with 1,500 authors) taking place in dozens of venues during the four-day "Leipzig Reads!" festival, which takes place concurrent with the Book Fair. Mark Scheland provided a brief introduction in German about the genesis of the anthology, which was a ‘National Story Project’ of National Public Radio, edited by Paul Auster.
