. Consul for Public Affairs Mark Wenig was one of the main speakers at a symposium in Magdeburg on the U.S. presidency. The event, held at the library of the Otto von Guericke University, also featured talks by Prof. Jim Willis of Azusa Pacific University in California, Prof. Paul Rundquist, an American visiting professor at several universities in the region, and by a graduate student in American Studies. The meeting was organized by Prof. Holger Kersten, head of the Department of American Studies at the university. Some 40 university students attended, who were joined in the morning session by another 40 from Magdeburg’s Dom Gymnasium. An afternoon Q&A session followed the morning presentations. Earlier in the week, Leipzig Consulate General had also helped set up guest lectures for Professor Jim Willis at the Jena University Political Science and Communications Departments.
