German Fulbright Grantees Fascinated By U.S. Election

 The Long Campaign: Elections 2008
 The Long Campaign: Elections 2008
April 23, 2008. Consul General Mark Scheland spoke in Jena, Thuringia, to 130 students from throughout Germany who have received Fulbright travel grants to study in the U.S. in 2008-2009.  Scheland also delivered a PowerPoint presentation, in German, about the Congressional and Presidential election system. Students were curious about the impacts of race, gender, the economy, and foreign policy on voter preferences. The grantees were at the end of a three-day conference in which they received technical and logistical information in preparation for their U.S. stays.
