John Connell is from Spartanburg, South Carolina. He is currently a third year student at the University of South Carolina studying Finance and German. John has experienced Germany multiple times through travel but his most embellishing experience was with The Check-Point Charlie Stiftung in the summer of 2009. As part of this program, John was able to live, for 4 weeks in Biederitz, with a German host family and attend an elementary school working with German students in English classes. He is highly interested in foreign affairs and the Foreign Service and views his internship at the U.S. Consulate as an opportunity to further his knowledge concerning German-American relations.
