July 1, 2004. Leipzig Consulate General celebrated the 228th U.S. Independence Day in Halle, Saxony-Anhalt, this year. About 300 guests listened to the welcoming remarks of Consul Fletcher M. Burton, Minister President Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Böhmer, and Lord Mayor Ingrid Häußler. The Marine Guards presented the Colors and James Moellenhoff of the Opera Leizig sang the national anthem. The U.S. Army Europe Dixieland Band provided entertainment.
