Bringing Hollywood Directing To Leipzig

 Bettman with students
 Bettman with students
May 29-30, 2008. U.S. TV and film director, filmmaker and scholar Gil Bettman (Chapman College, CA), conducted a workshop on “camera movement and directing”, which provided rare and unique insights into Hollywood-style directing to 18 students from the Leipzig University Communications Department. The workshop was set up in cooperation with Professor Ruediger Steinmetz, a close Consulate General working contact, and an essential link in the flourishing Leipzig University-Ohio Scripps School of Journalism relationship. Consul for Public Affairs Mark Wenig and Press Assistant Rita Wallace attended the opening workshop. In the framework of a highly practical step-by-step approach, Bettman gave the students a jumpstart into the craft of directing and made them realize how visual energy can help to tell a story.
