University Leipzig 600th Anniversary December 2009

• The new building will be inaugurated in December 2009 to mark 600 years since the founding of the University in Leipzig.
• On December 2, the 600th anniversary of the founding of the time-honored “Alma Mater Lipsiensis,” national and international academics in sciences, politics and social life will gather for a commemorative ceremonial. That evening an anniversary ball is planned to mark the new center of the university on the Augustusplatz.
• Throughout the whole celebration week the “Universitätsmusiktage” (December 3rd-6th 2009) will attract music lovers to Leipzig.
