Strength of U.S.-German Relations Emphasized

November 26, 2008. Leipzig Consul General Katherine Brucker spoke at the Reichenbach (Saxony) public library on the election results and the transition period. The audience of some 30 adults came not only from Reichenbach but also from the surrounding area. There was keen interest in the voting results by demographic sector, the historical significance of electing an African-American, and how U.S.-German relations would develop with the new administration. Consul General Brucker also discussed the Consulate's work in general, our efforts to promote better understanding of the historically strong ties between the U.S. and Germany, and our focus on outreach to youth.
