In response to rising interest in the U.S. elections, Leipzig Consul General Mark Scheland gave interviews to Hitradio RTL and Radio PSR, which explained the intricacies of the caucus and primary process system to eastern German audiences. The next day, the Consul General fielded questions on the elections as well as foreign policy issues from more of an expert crowd: 20 editors from Sächsische Zeitung. The visit to the Dresden paper included a first call on new editor-in-chief Uwe Vetterick.
