Consul Opens Curtis Poster Show

May 16, 2009. Consul for Political and Economic Affairs Edith Backman greeted about 70 guests at the opening of the exhibition "Visions of Native Americans: The Photographs of Edward S. Curtis", a State Department poster show which will be on display at the International Karl May Heritage Center in Hohenstein-Ernstthal, Saxony, until October 2009. The show is a photographic record of Native Americans during the early part of the 20th century. Consul Backman made an official presentation of a book of photos of the American West to the director of the Karl May Center. The vernissage was part of the 12^th Karl May festival and over the course of the festival an extraordinary high number of visitors flocked in to learn about North American Indians.
