May 29, 2008. Consul for Public Affairs Mark Wenig participated in the unveiling of a plaque honoring the contributions of the Leipzig University Library’s three major sponsors over the past ten years. Among them is the Institute for American Studies Leipzig, recipient of the library of U.S. historian Frank Freidel and founder of the Frank Freidel Memorial Library. University President Prof. Franz Häuser thanked the sponsors and addressed approximately 30 notable guests and Prof. Johannes Schneider, head of the university library. In the future, the plaque will point 29,000 students and other visitors of the Leipzig University Library to the Frank Freidel American Studies collection.
