"Season of Light" Celebrated at Leipzig High School

December 11, 2007. U.S. storyteller and musician Matthew Graham performed songs and stories featuring seasonal celebrations such as Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa and Divali in front of sixty 6th graders from secondary and high school classes at the Leipzig Lutheran School Center  (Evangelisches Schulzentrum). The program was co-organized with school librarian, Mrs. Gunwald, who introduced Consul for Public Affairs Mark Wenig and the artist to the group.  In his celebration of winter holiday traditions from all over the world, Graham also put major emphasis on U.S. customs and culture. This interactive program, held in the school’s library, was of great educational value as it underscored the richness of multicultural experiences.
